Lovely Ladies (Planes and Girls)

Miguel, photographer and museum associate, frequently visits the Cold War Air Museum and uses our aircraft, equipment and uniforms as an accent for his work. Our blog post MiGs and Models
featuring his work remains popular.

Miguel works successfully to present the ladies and the aircraft professionally.

Miguel enjoys flying in the aircraft and showing the aircraft in flight as well as presenting the models in his work.

With a number of different uniforms and accessories, he tries to bring out interesting views and combination's.

In flight, or static, Miguel works to bring out the best.

Small Towns and Big Helicopters

The Cold War Air Museum Mil Mi-24D has been busy lately with invitations from numerous local events.

Saturday morning saw another liftoff to another event.

We love visiting small town Texas and are happy to do our part with educating the kids about History and Aviation.

Horses and Hinds, both are expensive to feed. We are happy to report that Patriotism is still alive and well in the Heartlands.

And of course, our tall and handsome aviators are always well received by the young ladies of the villages we visit.

While these local events are tremendous fun and a great attraction for the local communities to draw attention to their airports, we will soon be hosting and traveling to larger events as well. Watch for future announcements regarding upcoming events at Lancaster Airport on September 4th, Temple-Killeen/Ft Hood on September 10th and the Alliance Air Show in Ft. Worth, October 30 & 31st.

Feature Associate - Homer Webb

We are fortunate at the Cold War Air Museum to have a fine group of associates and volunteers.

Homer Webb is an Assistant Principal in the nearby DeSoto Schools, Alternative Education Program. Homer is a frequent visitor and volunteer who can easily talk with both grown ups and kids about the history of the aircraft and the cold war. Just a few hours away from finishing his private pilot rating, Homer has ridden and flown in various musuem associate's aircraft and looks forward to the opportunity to fly in this L39 someday (hopefully soon).

Homer recently visited the Aircraft "Boneyard" near Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.

Homer's pictures, like that of the Sr-71 above, add detail and interest not found in our previous story about Davis Monthan, "Miles and Miles of Dreams" posted last year.

Mig Mannequin

A number of the associates at the Cold War Air Museum have been on "vacation" from blogging lately. Kicking things back off again is a story about a new decoration for one of our displays,

Browsing ebay(tm) connected us with a mannequin and helmet that looked perfect for our use. We were lucky enough to win the listing and after a short wait, our prize arrived.

The head now looks out from our Mig21, carefully watching for target acquisition.

Many visitors don't notice the head until they are right up by the aircraft. Some of the startled reactions are fun to watch.
